custom creations

Making things has always been a passion of mine. My efforts have gone into woodworking - repair, restoration, and making of custom fine furniture; illustration, quilting, lamp shades, painting, photography, and graphic design. Nature inspires me; whether it is colour, texture, or form. And children - they have a freedom within that is contagious. So I leave you with a few examples of my work. Enjoy!

Lampshades

My first inspiration for these lampshades came from stained glass.  These shades are quite versatile due to the size and flexibility of shape and colour.  It is a lot of fun to play with the beading, colour, and create custom designs.  I also did some hand beading for a designer. The effect is beautiful and time consuming to achieve, but worth every minute. I like to use mostly cotton batik. They work so well with the light and are easy to handle. I also use antique sari ribbon, woven fabric, satins and silks.  Anything is possible.
